The best movie of 2024, Dune: Part Two

“I Won’t Be Fighting For Him, I’m Fighting For My People”

I don't know how to start this review or how to start this paragraph. This film left me speechless. I love Denis Villeneuve's works, and how he can easily combine action and an intense story. Surely, it is not easy, but his vision lets him be one of this decade's best (maybe even best) directors.

There are spoilers in this review The film starts from where part one left us. Paul and his mother are going to the "tribe" of Fremen. The action begins from there. Before watching this film, I read a few reviews and they all mentioned the lack of action in this movie. However, I was very surprised when I was watching the movie because there were a lot of action scenes. Yes, Dune is not an action movie, but it has more than a few action scenes. They are very intense and interesting to watch. They were not just put out there to make the movie longer or to feed the audience's attention span. They were feeding the story with meanings. You could worry about the characters.

Other than the action parts, this film is time to time emotional and full of politics/religion. The fact that Paul is showing the way while he is trying to find his way is just adding another hit to the story. You can see he is growing in 2 hours 46 minutes on the screen. After he drinks the "water of life" he sees the future and the past very clearly. He is not the same anymore, and he believes that he is a messiah too. At the start, he knows he is not, and he is being himself by correcting the fanatics. But at the end, by the tone of his voice, and by the brilliant acting of Timothee Chalemet you can understand that he is not playing a game. He is the hero of the people of Arrakis.
